WHAT is cSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture — but being a member is about so much more than receiving a weekly bag of produce.
Years ago, communities would invite a farmer to grow food on shared land. Families invested in the season upfront, shared in the harvest, and supported the farmer through both the abundant weeks and the challenging ones.
Today, the model looks a little different — but the heart is the same.
Being a CSA member means you’re part of something bigger than a grocery transaction. You’re investing in a season. You’re supporting a local farm. You’re choosing to eat with intention.
Here’s what that looks like at Sand n Straw:
YOUR KITCHEN.
CSA membership changes the way you cook — in the best way. Instead of asking, “What do I feel like making?” you begin asking, “What’s fresh this week?” We share simple recipes, storage tips, and real-life ideas from our farm and our community to help you use what’s in your bag with confidence.
YOUR PRODUCE.
Each week, your CSA bag is filled with seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs grown right here at Sand n Straw Farm in Vista, CA. Harvested at peak freshness. Grown with care. Chosen with your family in mind.
YOUR COMMUNITY FARM.
When you join our CSA, you’re not just buying produce. You’re becoming part of our farm community.
Our Practices
No spray, Regenerative and Organically Grown Produce
We grow your CSA vegetables right here in our local community using regenerative agriculture and permaculture practices, guided by organic principles—with no sprays of any kind, not even organic-approved sprays. By leaving areas of our farm wild, especially around our seasonal creek, we support healthy soil, beneficial insects, and natural pest balance.
Health and wellness start from the ground up.

What our Farm Box members are saying
“One of my favorite things that came out of 2019 was discovering the difference in farm fresh ingredients. I can never go back. Thank you @sandnstraw.”
— Kayla S.
“As a cancer survivor, I have decided to grow as much produce organically as I can. When Sand n Straw opened and offered the Farm Box program, my husband and I decided to join to supplement our garden. They grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and we have been able to try produce that we never would have picked up at the store. Thanks Rich, April and your family for all your hard work!”
— Leesa L.
“This is, by far, the best Farm Box I've ever had. My entire family, including two little girls, are excited to pick it up every week and we love the delicious, fresh produce. Sand N' Straw farm is a true community treasure. We always bring out of town guests and they are impressed with this gem of a farm and the quality produce. We look forward to being Farm Box members for a very long time.”
